The Latina Project
The Latina Project documents the lives of women in Cuba, from field workers to nurses, caring for family, home and the elderly. Though Cuban law sets equal rights for women, few employment options and low pay contribute to substandard living conditions. The images reveal life in the home and the workplace, showing the strength, perseverance and dignity of these remarkable women. The project "Cuban Women, Bonds of Strength" was presented at the NPPA Women's Photojournalism Conference in San Francisco.
