Barbara Ries,  Producer / Photographer

Barbara Ries was named a Pulitzer Prize finalist in photography. As a photojournalist for more than 25 years she was assigned to cover conflicts and economic struggles in Nicaragua and El Salvador, U.S. presidential campaigns and White House coverage during two administrations. She has worked for Newsweek, Time, Fortune, Business Week, Stanford and National Geographic World magazines.  Barbara co-founded Picture World Hope in 2008 and does location work in video, still photographs and sound for multi-media projects.

Barbara's images have won awards from the National Press Photographers Association and The White House News Photographers Association. Her photo essays have been published in A Day in the Life of the American Woman and A Day in the Life of the U.S. Armed Forces, published by Time-Warner.

She served as the team photographer for non-profits Smile Train and Operation Smile on medical missions to North Africa, South America and China. She was a principal photographer on an expedition across Tibet with the first Sino-U.S. collaborative team to travel by raft from the source of the Yangtze River.
